St. Leonards School information and guidance
The below information is a walk through for parents/guardians attending the venue. If you have any questions on the lessons, venue, etc. - just get in touch to ask.
Venue information / parking
- The venue is St. Leonards School (KY16 9QJ). There is free on street parking on 'The Pends' and down by the Harbour. There is no onsite parking available.
- There is a grey wooden door towards the bottom of 'The Pends' (just before the archway leading to the Harbour). This is the point of entry for us on to the School grounds. (See below video)
- Once you are through the door, turn right and walk towards the changing rooms/pool building. There will be signs directing you towards the pool.
The below video shows where the on street door is;
What to do when you arrive at the building
- On entry into the changing room foyer, please wear the provided blue shoe covers over your footwear. If they have ran out, please remove your socks & shoes - as no outdoor footwear can be worn on poolside or in the changing rooms.
- Use the changing rooms as normal before and after the classes (children can arrive 'swim ready' if you would prefer to minimise time spent in changing rooms - i.e. kids can have swimming shorts/costume on underneath their clothes).
- Please come onto poolside at the start of your session time and then teachers will organise the kids into their classes.
Important information
For the 6:00, 6:30 and 7:00pm classes, parents/guardians must wait outdoors during the swimming lessons to avoid overcrowding in the changing rooms. Towards the end of the lesson, please come back on to poolside and wait for the class to end. If your child is upset/nervous, you are welcome to stay on poolside to provide additional support.
Practical delivery of the classes / general rules
- Once your child is in their class, you are welcome to stay on poolside for the first 10 minutes of the first session. After this, parents/guardians will need to leave the poolside area as there is not a viewing area at the venue.
- Please come back on poolside 5 minutes before the end of the class to collect your child (this will be the requirement for every week).
- If your child is upset/needs additional support from you, please feel free to remain on poolside until the point where they feel comfortable without your presence.
- Teachers will be in the water with the kids to ensure they learn in the best possible way and to ensure safety.
- Please do not take any pictures or videos of the classes/kids in the water.
